Scales: Dermatitis, possibly contact, allergic. Stop any alkaline soaps, alkaline shampoos, hair sprays. Apply OTC cortisone cream 2-3 times /day

DANDRUFF/PSORIASIS: You should shampoo daily. Use an otc tar shampoo like t-gel or tarsum. Prescription shampoos work very well but they are expensive. Clobex shampoo is one of these. Best luck.

Yes: Fluocinonide is a high potency steroid frequently used for treatment of psoriasis and can be expected to decrease scale, reduce redness, and help with itch and irritation when used as directed.

Psoriasis: Scaling on scalp from psoriasis will be reduced after washing your hair, but will return in a few hours.  Shampoos containing 2 or 4% coal tar can help reduce the inflammation that causes the condition.  There are many topical treatments for scalp psoriasis.  Please see your local doctor to discuss them.

i see many places say 30% of people with psoriasis develop psoriatic arthritis. but then when i actually read studies several large scale investigation only show 5-20% do. thats a big difference so why do many places still say 30%?

: In some cases people develop the arthritis before the skin eruptions of psoriasis actually appears. I wonder if some of the studies include these type of cases  retrospectively while other studies hadn't included them.

Psoriasis: you need to see a Board Certified Dermatologist.  You need to try everything they can think of before you give up.  Bet it won't take that long.

Varies on severity: Small patches may respond well to various potencies of steroid cream, vit.D-like drugs, or vit a-derived meds. Larger areas of involvement may require immunosuppressant therapy like Methotrexate or new immune-modulator drugs like infliximab, etanercept, etc. The latter drugs have many side effects and precautions; so you should be under the care of a specialist in those.

has thyroid cancer 20 years ago, had one lobe removed and am on synthroid (thyroxine).  now am obese and have psoriasis is there a connection?

Probably not.: If you weren't on enough synthroid, (thyroxine) it would make you more likely to gain weight. But your doctor has probably been monitoring your level through a simple blood test, so it would be unlikely to be the cause.

I know of no connection with your described situation and psoriasis.
