They are trustworthy: Yes those tests are needed to make sure sperm count comes to zero other wise you will get pregnant , as some may have anomalous extra vas , or get re-cannalize ( which is rare also )

Adjustment changes: Most likely, the uterus/body is making minor adjustments related to the IUD.  The Prostaglandins (pain mediators) associated with semen also add to the discomfort sometimes.  If you are comfortable feeling for the IUD strings, you should do that to confirm continued proper placement of the IUD.  Otherwise, especially if the symptoms are persistent, get with your OB/GYN to confirm placement.

It's a long shot...: A fertile couple having sexual activities should be ready for whatever cute little surprise baby life brings (be married, settled down). Sperm can swim but they need a continuous wet path to swim along. It's like a fish not being able to cross a dry desert highway to get to the other side.
