my son suffered with nose bleeds regularly. yesterday he had a nose bleed that was extremely pink and clotted in colour. it then went bright red.

Nosebleeds: Your son should see an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist.  Have your primary care physician refer you.  There is a reason and an appropriate treatment for your son's dilemma.

nose bleeds in sleep. recently bloody tears, red eyes, bleeding ears, coughing up blood. not mass amounts but still noticeable. what could cause this?

See MD ASAP: Coughing up blood and bloody tears is never normal, you should see an ENT sinus surgeon immediately for exam ; ct scan. It sounds like a problem in your sinuses as the sinuses are connected to your nose, throat, tear ducts and ears. There are many possible causes including sinusitis, trauma, Cocaine use, infection, tumor (juvenile angiogibroma) or inflammation (wegener's). Please get it checked!

can red wine increase bleeding of fissures?

Bleeding: Researchers at Georgetown University Medical did a study that showed that the alcohol decreased the clumping together of platelets, cells that are essential to blood clotting.  Although not specifically tested for, this gives rise to a possible/ theoretical increase in fissue bleeding.  Further study would be needed to know for sure.

stuffy nose after a glass or 2 of red wine.  not so much with other liquors.  is this due to the tannins or histamines associated with red wine?

Possibly: or could be a sensitivity to sulfites added to most wines as a preservative. Try an organic sulfite free wine and see what happens.

Normal / common: Kids commonly get nose bleeds when they are exposed to airborne irritants (smoke, fragrance, fumes, dust, allergens) or dry heat. They often awake with a bloody pillow after rubbing their nose into it during sleep and having a bleed. Nasal saline wash or jells and humidified air help reduce the frequency.Avoidance of irritants is the primary method of prevention.

? dry nasal cavities: which is the most common cause for nose bleeds , especially in winter, try to humidify her environment, use saline nasal washes before she goes to sleep, if still happening, better see an ENT specialist, wish you both wellness

Nose bleeds are : Common in childhood & often reflect irritants like dust, pollen, fumes, smoke etc that the kid is exposed to on a regular basis.These things accumulate in the nasal  passages & lead to nasal rubbing when the kids are half asleep or during the day.The trauma causes small capillaries in the nose to blead.Nasal saline wash can remove the irritants & nasal saline gel helps if applied at night.
