Increase blood flow: Increase in temperature (hot shower) cause increase blood flow to the extremities and skin and you could have red rash type appearance and associated swelling and numbness.

Nerve endings: It appears that you have irritable nerve endings in the superficial nerves behind the knee. As long as there are no other symptoms of redness,tenderness,swelling or distended veins,there appears to be no serious problem.

i've had extreme itching and bruising from my knees up to my hips for 6 weeks. no rash, bumps or redness. i haven't changed dials and i am not allergi?

Itch and bruises: Extreme itching without a rash can be caused by dry skin, diabetes, prickly heat, hyperthyroidism, polycythemia(too many red blood cells)  as well as other diseases like lymphoma. If the bruises are not from scratching, a bone marrow or hematologic disorder is suspected. Your physician should evaluate you and order appropriate tests and referrals to specialists may be advised.

Get an evaluation: Pain in the calf area usually comes from one of the 2 muscles in the area (gastrocnemius or soleus) but it can be cause by referred pain from other structures. Visit your doctor for an evaluation.
