No: Allergy shots modify the immune response (potentially even permanently for some)so that the body will stop recognizing  allergens as enemies. (the new concept is that the body attacks allergens because the immune response has mistaken them as parasites). Symptoms improve when the allergic response is modulated. Do note that 20% of the people don't respond to allergy shots.

i have been coughing clear mucus for about a month. no other symptoms. i did have a really bad cold for a couple weeks but this is lingering. allergy?

Post-viral cough?: Many people have a lingering cough for many weeks after a viral infection. At times a short-course of inhaled steroid/bronchodilator may be helpful for some. About 10% of the people end up with a sinus infection after a cold and this may require antibiotic treatment. Check with your doctor.

When exposed: Allergy status does not change much, but the amount of allergens (pollen, dust mite, mold spores) in the environment do change. For example, individuals who have symptoms only during pollen season might manage by taking antihistaminics only during these seasons. Defining the allergen sensitivities and when the allergens are highest might require a visit to your doctor.

two days after my first allergy shot i got a bad headache that didnt respond to medicine. can allergy shots cause allergy symptoms that long after the shot or was my headache probably unrelated?

: Two possibilities, shot triggered headache, or purely coincidental.  If occurs again, it might bring up concern of chronic headache problems such as migraine.

i have multiple allergies causing symptoms daily.  using allegra, (fexofenadine) but only when symptoms are bad. would it be better to take it every day?

Accepted Answer

Allergy meds : Allegra is safe to take daily for allergy symptoms . It takes less than an hour to help, so the decision to take it can be made daily. It doesn't matter what time it is taken. Nasal steroid sprays Nasacort (triamcinolone) and Flonase are now OTC. These help, but it takes a few days, so there is a better effect over time if they are taken daily. If symptoms aren't relieved with both types of meds, see an allergist

i was diagnosed with seasonal/environmental allergies.for years, it was well controlled with chlorpheniramine. the allergies are bad now but the symptoms are constant. what should i do?

?question?other RX: If you are looking for other rx suggestions there are several available, the 1/day meds like allegra(fexophenadine) or claritin(loritadine) work fine in some & are available otc. You may want to do an environmental audit: any dust/smoke/perfume
/fume products will aggrivate & feel identical to allergic triggers in some.With these issues avoidance is the key to improvement.

Ears clogged: The ears can feel clogged with allergy problems.  See a doctor and let them check you out and see which allergy medication best fits your signs and symptoms.

i dyed my eyebrows 4 days ago and apparently im allergic to paraphenylenediamine. the symptoms are really bad. its itchy, swollen and red.i use allergy pills but it doesnt help.. what can i do?

: Use some cortisone cream that you can buy at a pharmacy anbd apply three times a day until it settles the symptoms. Continue the allergy pills as well. Watch out for getting an eye infection due to all the swelling around the eyes. Go to a doctor if you get an eye infection or if not improving so that other treatment can be given.

i get really bad itchy palate and ears during pollen season, can this become serious or is it a harmless allergy symptom? any way to relieve it?

Join the Club !: Allergies. Try Allegra (fexofenadine) or Zyrtec to start with . If these do not help, see the Allergist. Not serious unless they remain untreatable with normal remedies. The Allergist can help you decide this . Good Luck.

i have been having allergies really bad this week. i have been taking zyrtec and mucinex d since last sunday. friday i added generic flonase. i have not had any fever at all.  yesterday afternoon i noticed a loss of smell. i know there are reports of others saying theyve lost smell and taste while on flonase. i also know that is a symptom of covid. from what ive read and heard, if this was covid id feel a lot worse and have fever.  what are your thoughts?
