acute bronchitis? no fever,productive cough started 12/23. rhonchi sound in lungs starting on 12/30, started 5 days zpack. have rhonchi when exhale by mouth. my wife said not as bad.  cough is less productive than it was.  less productive cough ok?

Z pack : Most bronchitis is viral, and not improved with antibiotics. If there is no fever then bacterial bronchitis is less likely. A cough from bronchitis can last for 6 weeks to 3 months.  The best way to evaluate someone for bronchitis or cough  is an in-person examination

Pneumonia symptoms: It can take up to a week sometimes for those "noises" to disappear after starting appropriate treatment. You are now killing the bacteria causing the infection and noise, but now your body has to get rid of all that "garbage" down in the lungs. Do deep breathing and cough exercises to help loosen the material and open lung sacs and by all means avoid ANY respiratory irritants such as smoke, dust,

Treat cause: Go see your doc for full examine to determine cause of rales, whether heart failure or infection, etc. Cause of rales will dictate treatment plan. Good luck!

Can take up to a : week however if there is no improvement after 3-5 days your doctor may need to consider changing antibiotics

Not necessary: They are heard when a person breathes in (inhales) and are believed to occur when air opens closed air spaces plus can be further described as moist, dry, fine, and coarse.There are other causes beside fluid.The fluid can be clear,cloudy as well as bloody . So see a doctor to get better evaluated.

Yes: rhonchi are caused by a blockage in the airways or fluid in the bronchial passageway so yes asthma and less commonly common cold can be associated with rhonchi

Lung sounds: can indicate many different problems.  Rhonchi are common with COPD, pneumonia, smokers, bronchitis.  Crackles - wet crackles - can be heard with pneumonia and heart failure.  Dry crackles can be heard with fibrosis and interstitial lung disease.

Recovery: If you are recovering and not short of breath or experiencing chest pain, it may be alright to fly. Please check with your PCP for the final okay.
