i got a huge purple bruise about two inches in diameter on my stomach out of no where. i am overweight which may play a part. what could this be?

Bruise: The bruise could result from any minimal trauma that did not directly affect you.

If it is not getting better within a week you need to see your doctor.

Bruise: It is very well could be a bruise, you could have sustained without realizing it at that time. As long as it is isolated and not spreading further nothing to be worried. If you get similar bruises in other parts of the body have yourself checked out by your physician

Why?: Did you hit yourself? If any more appear, check with your doctor for blood tests. Medications like coumadin, (warfarin) plavix, and Prednisone make you more likely to have bruising.

Small bleeder: You may have a small vessel that's been bleeding repeatedly. If it's a solitary bruise, it's not likely to mean much. If you're taking Aspirin products, that will contribute to the ease of bruising, but is not necessarily a reason to stop aspirin. If you think the bruise is originating from a deeper structure such as a lumpy place within muscle, and it persists, get checked out.
