Accepted Answer

Dilation : Dilation is only a risk if you have narrow angles (rare but can throw you into angle closure glaucoma) or keratoconus (uncommon but dilation can cause permanent pupil dilation in few). Otherwise risk is very low.

Accepted Answer

No: I am unaware of any cases where using drops that dilate eyes cause permanent dilation. Physiologically you would have to effect the ganglion that causes this and the drops do not do that.

Check: Have his eyes checked. His ability to respond to light may be a problem. Some people have different sized pupils but have him checked. All the best.

This class of: drugs is called mydriatic agents.  There are a number of drugs in this class including atropine and its derivatives and sympathomimetic drugs like epinephrine and phenylephrine.  They are generally not available over the counter.

Accepted Answer

Days to weeks: Atropine is the longest acting of the dilating drops and the effects can last up to two weeks.  In addition to dilating the pupil it can cause blurred near vision.  This will all go away once the drop wears off.

Up to 12 hours.: Depends  on which type of drops  they used, but can last up to 12 hours

Slightly: Some vasoconstrictive eye drops can cause slight eye dilation which should resolve within hours to stopping the drops.

my water bottle fell 1.5 ft from my sweatshirt and landed in my 3mo childs car seat by head. i didnt see if it hit her but she cried.she has no mark on head, her pupils are the same and dilating/constricting, she is now happy and normal.concerns?

Accepted Answer

No: This will not be the last incidence. As long as no obvious head injury and the child is back to normal there should be no concern. Head injury of concern would be associated with injury and some degree of altered mental status. Typical energy to cause concern would be falling from height of a crib height.

Hours: Braun eyes - 2-4 hours
blue eyes up to a day.

Natural dilators: The natural ways to dilate the pupils is to turn off the lights and/or become very scared.
