The intracardiac: pressures are often dependent on the state of hydration of the patient. Before repeating expensive testing you should discuss your concern with your health care provider to come to an understanding of the clinical significance of this finding for you. At your age it is most likely insignificant and/or in error.

are there tables available for interpretation of pulmonary function tests? i had assumed there would be charts with ranges of normal values and flags for abnormal results, such as on blood tests. but finding usable information is difficult?

: I would discuss with your pulmonologist. I know the NHANES study measures pull function from time to time and the likely have some tables or graphs. Go to CDC and see what you can find.  Another source would be to go to uptodate.com and pay for a 1 months subscription and read all about it including links to Society Guidelines. Also disuss with your local pulmonary function lab as they VA data.

Difficult todiagnose: A chest Xray alone cannot give detailed information about whether a patient has asthma vs. COPD. Many factors must be taken into account. A full set of pulmonary function testing in a physician's office with FEV1, FVC, DLCO etc. and a detailed history and physical examination is the first step.

my dlco was only 39% on my recent spirometry. an oximeter is of little value in monitoring my emphysema/scarring of lungs, it will show blood sats that would be good for me such as 94. how can i manage this at home? is my oxygen generator any help?

: DLCO of 39% only means you have moderate to severe emphysema which impairs the oxygen exchange at the alveolar level but it doesn't indicate the need of oxygen supplement. As long as you are asymptomatic with 94% O2  then you don't need O2. However, if you've dyspnea then an arterial blood gas should be done to correlate arterial O2 and O2 saturation. Pulse ox could be wrong in dark skin people.

Uncommon in healthy: In healthy normal people, it is uncommon to have food actually get into the lungs because people have an automatic cough reflex to spew out anything that accidentally goes toward the lungs... so stuff rarely makes it all the way to the lungs. If it makes it into the lungs, the person likely gets a persistent cough. That means coughs that last for weeks should be checked out by one's doctor.

Inflammation: Inflammation or reaction to a foreign body like a bacteria such as infectio fluid in the lungs are also some disease states that cause your body to attack its own tissue and i can closterwood in the longs also remember that all these connect organs are connected in some way to each other in the chest so if the heart fails fluking back up into the lungs and vice versa is more competine you realize but it's a good question.
