Stop shaving, 4 now: Razor-bumps result from shaving/cutting the hair too short, thus causing the hair to get stuck under the skin causing the bumps. Basically these are trapped hair follicles. Use of some exfoliating skin lotion/cream may help the trapped hair to come through to surface and thus resolve the bumps. So, stop shaving too closely will reduce this. Laser/electrolysis is expensive, but no bumps! good luck.

Use good technique: Insure you use fresh, sharp blades vice dull blades. If hair is &gt; several mm long – then trim before shaving. Wash area before shaving – warm water helps to soften hair. Use a lubricant when shaving. Avoid using products that contain alcohol or are scented.  Shave in direction of the hair – not against it. Be gentle when shaving – don’t push down too hard. Moisturize skin after shaving.

Difficult to assess: Visualization of the bumps would likely be necessary to determine the true cause, since the symptoms you are describing are not consistent with one over the other.  Herpes lesions are typically blistered or ulcerated (open), while razor burn/folliculitis lesions appear more as red pimples.  Folliculitis however, does not usually cause referred pain, while herpes often does.

Many possibilities: There are too many kinds of genital rash to even guess at the cause. However, probably not an STD:  most genital rashes are not STDs, and no STD is likely to cause both genital and non-genital rash at the same time. See your personal physician or a dermatologist. Good luck!

Works well dark hair: If the hair is brown or black the area can be treated with long term to permanent hair reduction. Expect 4-6 sessions about 4 weeks apart. For caucasians all laser types work, and for darker skin the ndyag is appropriate.

Needs to be seen: Lumps, bumps, blisters and other skin abnormalities on the genitals need to be evaluated. An examination will be needed to know the cause and treatment. Folliculitis is one possibility. Yeast is a possibility and over the counter fungal cream will fix it. Trauma from recent intercourse if possible. Herpes is an std which can cause this. Other possibilities too. Schedule an exam or a virtual visit
