Need more guns: Allegra may not be enough to treat "severe" allergies alone.  Depending on your symptoms you may need more guns such as a nasal spray and/or a decongestant.  If your allergies are so severe and a good medical regimen is not working you should talk to your doc about immunization shots which build a resistance to your specific allergy trigger.

A day or so: Once you start taking allegra, (fexofenadine) it may work within a day for allergic symptoms.  If it is not working for you, you may need to try another ant-allergic agent.

See below: Fexofenadine's half-life is 14.4 hours, i.e., the amount of time for it to lose one-half of its activity. After 10 half-lives, it would be pretty much out of your system (only 1/1024 of its original activity). That equates to 140 hours or approximately 6 days. Allergists like to have patients off antihistamines like this for 1-2 weeks before doing any allergy testing.

Antihistamines: Hello, yes these two antihistamines are commonly used together. I usually use these medications in cases where allergy symptoms are challenging for my patient. This is twice the normal daily dose but sometimes needed. If excess sedation is noted then see your doctor for other options, .

Drug interactions.: This was checked using phenylephrine &amp;
