Generally: not, however it should be TREATED and such treatment is generally simple and effective...get a referral to a UROLOGIST and discuss the "whole" problem....there may be a different cause for your erectile difficulties.

can prostatitis cause loss of erection? was really hard but still battling prostatitis and have notice my erection has decreased a lot. is this something that can be corrected? only 28 and concerned i am having this problem now?

Prostatitis: Prostatitis can cause the loss of firmness in an erection. This condition is temporary and usually corrects itself once the inflammation and swelling go down. Hopefully you are under a Dr's care for treatment of your prostatitis. Since prostatitis can be caused by bacterial leakage from the urinary tract into the prostate tissue or by STD's, you should be on some kind of antibiotic.

Many possible causes: Stress or anxiety can affect "performance".   Alcohol and marijuana can affect the quality of erections.  Tobacco smoking long term can promote erectile dysfunction.  Your description does not sound like prostatitis.   If you have had groin surgery or radiation therapy, both of these can affect erections.  If none of the above apply, then I advise seeing a physician for an exam.

Don't worry: I'm glad you have somebody special. This happens to many men from time to time, especially after prolonged arousal. Nobody really understands why, but it's not something to worry about unless you have other symptoms / signs over at least two weeks.

Inflammation: I would assume your doctor has checked a urine after prostate massage; also that you have been checked for chlamydia and other infections. Some over the counter cold meds can affect your urine stream as well. Urodynamic studies and a voiding cystogram might help figure out what's going on. If you were older i would suspect an enlarged prostate but not at age 23.

i have chronic prostatitis , i'm 44yrs old, a smoker, have had a three level lumbar fusion (ddd) has a golfball size tumor removed from my spinal cord but having issue keeping an erection, also when i cum nothing comes out! i take flomax 2x daily

Seminal loss : You should see a urologist to evaluate your symptoms.  This may be retrograde ejaculation which can contribute to prostatitis. There is a procedure that helps with retrograde ejaculation.

Please get an exam: From your doc to make sure that&#x27;s what you have.  He/she can then treat you.  True prosatatis is an infection/inflammation of the prostate, different from enlarged prostate that older men get. Careful of prostate massage because it may spread the infection, if there.  ED MAY be from this or other causes, e.g., circulation, anxiety, etc.  Peace and good health.

Prostatitis: Yes prostatitis can result in inflammation to the nerves that facilitate erections due to their close proximity to the prostate.  Vasectomy does not increase nor decrease the likelihood of developing prostatitis.

Yes: Yes they can cause both. Specially acute or chronic prostatitis.
