hello. i just took promethazine dm syrup for my cough the first time and i started coughing excessively. i can not stop coughing  am i allergic ?

Maybe: Persistent post nasal drip (allergy or non-allergy related), acid reflux, asthma, or vocal cord problem are common causes for persistent cough. can i take two teaspoons of phenergan (promethazine) dm syrup. i have bad asthma and it's been a rough few days. one teaspoon just doesn't give enough relief. ?

Yes...BUT: You could take up to 1 tbsp for cough relief, but the treatment for asthma is NOT phenergan (promethazine) DM.  Should be using albuterol and inhaled steroids and potentially other meds as prescribed.

Yes: It will most likely make you pretty drowsy, so yes I would advise you starting it when the baby is sleeping. :)

Not equivalent: but dextromethorphan in adequate dosage has cough suppressant activity equivalent to codeine.

It depends: Upon what is cough due to. Is it just allergy? Asthma? From smoking? Infection causing Bronchitis? Pneumonia?   And also upon what did you try OTC.  Warm Ginger tea is very good for soothing throat.

Doff That Cough!: Something's going on here. First, just don't take any more of that stuff. There are other ways to beat a cough. I assume you're taking this for a cough, right?? Try a steamy shower and/or steam from a tea pot. Try a teaspoon of honey. Try one or two capsules of Benadryl (diphenhydramine). But if nothing works go see a doctor. They could try therapy you couldn't do at home, like a nebulizer or other medications, etc

is it safe to take promethazine with codeine syrup, mucinex dm, and the nasal spray fluticasone propionate?

Too many: While fluticasone is fine, you are mixing codeine and Mucinex DM (not just Mucinex) which also contains an opiate. Throw in promethazine and you may end up getting too much sedating effect.
