Possible: Anything is possible. Very small amounts of retained products of conception would not cause a dramatic increase in endometrial thickness. The larger the amount of retained tissue the thicker the lining would appear

Lining of uterus: When the lining of your uterus is thick it means that either you are in the last phase of your menstrual cycle or also it can be due to pregnancy. However, medical conditions of the uterus can also resemble a thick endometrium, like endometrial hyperplasia (pre -malginancy) endometrial polyps, or uterine fibroids. See your obgyn for follow up.

Obgyn evaluation: You will need to see an Obgyn. They may want to consider a sonohystogram or office hysteroscopy to see if a polyp is present. They may suggest oral contraceptives, Progesterone or a Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD to help with the bleeding. A complete evaluation is needed to determine the cause and treatment.

Adenomyosis: Ultrasound can't make the diagnosis of endometriosis, it just suggests it.  It could be endometriosis as well, which may give you a completely normal US.  It could also be worsening dysmenorrhea (period pain) and lastly you still have to consider pain from other structures like the bladder, bowel and nerve pain of the abdominal wall.

Sonogram report: individual sonogram reports must be interpreted one on one with a  doctor who can view the report and who knows the clinical history. This way the radiology study can be interpreted in the proper clinical context I would want know more details clarifying what was meant by myometrial echoes.

A little: It's a little thick. normal around ovulation is around 8-10. If you are having heavy periods, talk to your GYN about treatment.

Not related: Endometriosis is a condition in which endometrial tissue grows outside the endometrium, causing severe menstrual pain. Endometrial thickness is not a very helpful measurement in premenopausal women, since your endometrium is supposed to become thickened every month to prepare for pregnancy.  Endometriosis extent and severity is best assessed by laparoscopy.

Endometrial contents: This means that the sonogram detected something inside of the cavity but that they were unable to determine exactly what it was. This is typically followed up with an endometrial biopsy and some method to evaluate the cavity. The two most common approaches are a sonohystogram or a hysteroscopy

Ultrasound: is the absolute best way to check endometrial thickness. There is no "should" about how thick, it depends why you skip periods: if hypogonadotropic the EM will be very thin (4 mm), if anovulatory it may be thick (15-16 mm.) Hope this helps.
