Do another test: Sounds like you might've had a chemical pregnancy, which is a very early pregnancy that just turns positive and then you start your period a few days later. This is extremely common, and most women find it frustrating, so I'm sorry. Test again; if negative, that's likely what you had. Good wishes.

Take the test: If you want to know if you are pregnant, take a test. In today's world you do not need to wonder if you are pregnant or not based on symptoms. Pregnancy tests are available at any pharmacy and in minutes you will have your answer. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.

Unlikely: It sounds like you experienced an "anovulatory" cycle.  When ovulation occurs, your cycle predictably happens about 14 days later.  When it does not occur or is delayed, then you get a delay in your period, irregular bleeding and negative pregnancy tests.  This can all be confusing.  This should be discussed with your ob/gyn.

: The individual should see her GYN physician , who may order additional testing (ultrasound) to establish a diagnosis, such as polycystic ovarian syndrome. Ask about low dose oral contraceptives, which will stop ovarian hormone production.

If you continue to be irregular or continue to have excessive bleeding schedule a visit with an obgyn to discuss options for cycle control. Lots of birth control options can regulate your cycle.  If you think you might be pregnant check then check a home pregnancy test.

Possibly: Home pregnancy tests are not always accurate especially in cases of ectopic pregnancy.  Please see your gynecologists for further evaluation.

No: Home pregnancy tests can show positive as early as 3-4 days after implantation. Implantation generally occurs 6-12 days after ovulation. So if the egg was fertilized right at ovulation and you used the most sensitive home test it could be positive at 9 days. On average it is 13-14 days after fertilization/ovulation when it is positive. Actually implantation bleeding is uncommon.

Pregnancy is #1 reason.
