Hydronephrosis: Probably not, if you have unilateral hydronephrosis (h). Your unaffected kidney should be able to excrete a water load. See a urologist to see what is causing the h and see if it can be resolved.

Not to worry: Your baby will have an ultrasound after birth to see if it is still there.This is a finding I read a lot on prenatal ultrasound reports.  So far none in my experience have had it after birth even though they were all thought to have it prenatally. 
It means the kidney on the affected side has developed an appearance suggestive of back up fluid and pressure on it as if something is blocking the flow of urine from the kidney to the bladder.

Swelling of kidney: According to the National Kidney Foundation, hydronephrosis is swelling of the kidney, usually due to blockage of urine so that it can't go from the kidney to the bladder.  In some cases it causes symptoms (e.g. pain) and , in others, it does not.

Here are some...: Oftentimes, the described condition is a congenital anomaly resulting from poorly innervated distal atonic ureter, which is usually found incidentally on imaging studies for other reasons. Such adynomic segment and resulting massive ureteral dilation is prone to bleed upon trauma and  to induce bacterial UTI so to precipitate active evaluation. More? Ask urologist or radiologist timely.

CT scan is best: Kidney ultrasound is not the best modality for diagnosis of staghorn calculus. It is very good in diagnosing hydronephrosis. Most cost effective way, which will give an accurate diagnosis is a plain abdominal X-ray plus kidney ultrasound.
