500000, right?: This is higher than most folks, but "normal" here is a curious idea -- lab reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall a little bit outside on either end. If you're iron-deficient, that would be the obvious explanation, even if you're not significantly anemic. If not it's something to follow, or your physician may want to do a gene test for essential thrombocythemia.

See a Hematologist : Low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) may be due to multiple different problems including a rxn to medication  or cancer, however it is most commonly without an identifiable cause (idiopathic or itp).  Treatment is only necessary if counts get very low (putting one at risk for spontaneous bleeding) or before surgery.  Treatment varies with the cause; it sometimes resolves on its own.

Your white blood: Count is elevated at 12.6, and your platelet count is normal.  Increased WBC is usually a marker of infection  - best to see your family doctor to determine the cause.

No it should go UP: Platelets are an acute phase reactant, along with esr, crp, and plasma viscosity.  If your platelets go down in response to an illness, it can be a sign of a platelet-lowering disease such as felty syndrome (and many others).

Depends how: Low and if you have any other abnormalities in your blood work.  Low platelets can cause delay in blood clotting.  If you are not having any problems with bleeding, i would not worry too much.  Follow your doctor's advice and have re-test first before you get too worried.  Lab errors do occur.  Isolated finding of low platelets could mean itp, a treatable disease.

Follow it: I suggest in two weeks off meds. It is no danger at this level. If you have any signs of lupus or have not been checked recently for HIV, some additional lab work is in order

Thrombocytosis...: ...Is the clinical term for a platelet count > 450k.  This is subclassified as primary (essential) vs. Secondary:  the former is due to unexplained production of platelets, the latter is most often due to chronic infections or inflammation (crohn's dz), anemia, cancer, a rxn to a medication, or following the surgical removal of the spleen.
