Enlarged : Enlarged lymph nodes or "lymphadenopathy" are very common. Lymph nodes are part of the immune system and enlarge with white blood cells to fight off infections when they detect a foriegn substance such as a virus or bacteria. (ever notice lumps in your neck with a sore throat?) usually these nodes shrink back down to normal size a few weeks after the infection is over, but can sometimes stay enlarged. No one is quite sure why this happens, but it's usually harmless.

Other illnesses such as autoimmune disease or cancer can cause enlarged lymph nodes, but often multiple nodes are involved, they can get very large, keep growing instead of shrinking and are associated with other symptoms such as fever, chills, weight loss, rash, etc. Presuming that you have no other symptoms besides this noticeable but unchanging node, odds of it being anything dangerous are extremely low.  Reasons to see your doctor would include an enlarging node, more noticeable nodes appearing, any other signs of illness or if it concerns you and you just want it checked out.

Get checked out.: There are some lymph nodes that we're okay with being temporarily enlarged, and some that we're not.  Big lymph nodes near the clavicle should be evaluated by your doctor and closely followed.  It could be related to the flu-shot, but if it were me, i'd have it checked out.

: It is not necessarily abnormal to feel a lymph node near the clavicle. However, if you notice that the lymph node is becoming larger or more noticeable, it would be prudent to bring it to the attention of your primary care doctor. Good luck.

slightly enlarged right clavicle lymph node.  what are other causes besides cancer.  everything i read says its bad for that area.   no other symptoms?

Often normal: I see big nodes here all the time, in both healthy athletes and people who've died of unrelated disease or injury. If a node is big from cancer, the person can usually tell something is badly wrong. Best wishes.

Monitoring Centers: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad  like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts.  They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  They shrink when all is well.

Lymph node : This lymph node has to be followed up. If not disappearing after a month , consider biopsy. Talk to a doctor.

i have been on amox 500 mg 3x/day for 6 days, 4 more to go. no change in neck lymph node pain, pain is bouncing on all nodes f/submand to clavicle???

Finish  it and see .: You have most likely " reactive lymphadenopathy" due to some infection - Need to finish Amox 10 days and yet after it may take longer to get lymph nodes back to normal sate. Definitly  see your MD after course of Amox possible have labs done as CBC + diff., CRP.. it may help to figure out of any other probable reason for lymphadenopathy. Ok to take Ibuprofen, as needed for discomfort.

We all have nodes: Whether or not a lymph node is called swollen depends on the size of the node and the average size of nodes in that part of the body, in people of that age group. A node about the diameter of a dime may be called enlarged, and one that is half the width of a dime is called normal sized. An in-person evaluation by one's primary care doctor can help decide whether or not there exists a problem.

i am 21 and felt a right supra clavicle lymph node. with no other symptoms does this suggest lung cancer?

No: Lots of healthy guys and ladies have tissue there. It's your friend. Leave it alone. Everybody has some palpable lymph nodes, in sifferent places for different people. Malignant nodes are obviously abnormal. Be glad for good health.

Need evaluation: This can be the sign of a malignancy so do not sit back and follow this. I would see an internist and you will likely need a surgical biopsy for diagnoses . If malignant you will require an oncologist. This is a serious situation and you must see a physican
