OPK: An OPK is a test that measures luteinizing hormone. Just prior to ovulation, women experience a short surge where the lh levels rise. The OPK will help you pinpoint this surge and help you predict when you will ovulate.  It rise the day before ovulation and does not stay high very long.

Unclear question: If you are having a period and pregnancy test is negative, you are not pregnant.
Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Probably no problem: So the way ovulation prediction tests work is by detecting the LH surge. That you detect the LH surge when it first appears is critical. Many women do not ovulate at 14 days, some ovulate on day 10 or 11. The LH surge tests positive for the first time 24-48 hours before ovulation. After that, LH will remain positive until your cycle starts again. So after one surge, no further testing is needed.

finished clomid extended protocol for hypothalamic amenorrhea. positive opk on cd 19, started light spotting/bleeding cd 24 with cramping. today almost all spotting has stopped. should i begin next round of clomid or wait for a full on period?

Clomid protocol: If your ovulation kit was positive on "CD 19", and "light spotting" occurred on "CD 24", the "spotting" may have indicated implantation, so hold off on additional clomiphene until your period starts in earnest (not just spotting) or you have a positive serum HCG indicating pregnancy.

Not real: This mostly - and often - happens with women whose cycles are longer and irregular. Ironically, the OPK is less reliable for them, and these are the women who really need help from the opk. It might also be a bad kit.

Normal: The kit checks your lh level. When it rises you ovulate 1-2 days later. The lh surge only stays elevated fo4 24-36 hours so it is supposed to turn negative again.

OPK : 1) that you had an lh surge on d6 (very unlikely) or 2) your OPK isn't working correctly (happens alot.).

You ovulated: If you are using an ovulation kit and it is positive then this means that you ovulated. Once you get one positive then you stop testing. It will stay positive for a few days.
