Controversial...: There is a lot of ideas in the lay press about this.  I can't endorse these methods because they aren't backed by good studies.  However, they might be fun to try and certainly won't hurt you.  Google "How to have a boy? or "How to have a girl"  and you will find a lot if information. Have sex!: Regularly. Don't use contraception or wear condom. No position better than other. Just enjoy your togetherness. Of course, go see your family doc for preconception counseling. Also start prenatal vitamin w/lots of Folic Acid to minimize risk for spinal tube defect. Congratulations & good luck! don't forget to eat right & exercise so that you're as healthy as possible now & during pregnancy.

No: Positioning has no effect on fertility. Retroverted uterus' are normal. And your uterus normal changes positions.

Doesn't matter: There is no preferred sex position that will protect you from getting pregnant. If sperm penetrates in the vagina, you are at high risk for conception. Any position that involves the presence of penis in the vagina is "high risk".

Frequent sex: I recommend having sex at least every 2-3 days but not more than once a day. Positioning is unlikely to make much of a difference although I have heard infertility specialists recommend from behind. 
Make sure you are taking folic acid supplements as well as avoiding alcohol, drugs and tobacco. If you find that after 12 months you have not conceived I recommend seeing a provider.

The real issue is: timing (as opposed to position). Ovulation normally occurs 14 days prior to the next period. Recommend starting to have intercourse a few days prior to ovulation &amp; at ovulation (possibly a couple of days after). Can use an ovulation calendar or ovulation predictor kit to help determine best timing. Take care.

Myth: No difference between timing of sex or different sexual positions in terms of gender. You would need certain fertility therapies in order to influence that. About 50% each way naturally.

Most will work...: Postions:  The ones you like the best will probably work just fine.  You may want to avoid those positions that allow sperm to quickly drain out such as standing or women on top.    Times:  Every-other-day works well.  You can also get an ovulation test kit and have intercourse when the test turns positive.   Best wishes!
