Yes: As long as it does not involve too much exercise on your part. Make sure you have a companion, and that medical help is not too far.

got a mild charlie horse type of pain right in the center of my chest, between breasts, kind of where the pit of the stomach is. it lasted about 20 minutes before getting better, is this my heart? would the pain go away if it was my heart? worried?

: At age "60". with mid-sternal episodic chest pain, it is best to have this evaluated by a cardiology physician.

Not likely: Given your history of working your biceps today, and you're 27, it's not likely that it's your heart.  If you are very concerned, though, this is something that would have to be evaluated in person.  Best of luck!

: Abdominal cramp is not commonly observed with hiatal hernia or reflux esophagitis.

i've had hoarseness and frequent throat clearing for years.always thought it was post nasal drip but lately developed heart burn. likely gerd related?

Possible: Or rather LPR, laryngopharyngeal reflux, that's when the stomach acid reaches the throat in GERD. Kindly ask your doctor to refer you to an ENT specialist who would examine your upper airways too for the possible post nasal drip as well, you may need treatment for both conditions, LPR can be controlled when GERD is controlled, good luck

had open heart surgery march 21 week and half ago have sore throat and can't talk well very horse sound  is this normal i been gargling with salt wate?

Tracheal intubation: The raspiness and sore throat are very possibly due to the endotracheal tube that was inserted for general anaesthesia and which caused some irritation.  Continue the salt water gargles for now and speak to your surgeon about this at your next follow-up.

Yes & No: Hearts from pigs used to be transplanted into some patients years ago but not much anymore.  There is too much risk from rejection, the need for a lot more meds than from a human transplant, and potential viral transmission.  However, heart valves from pigs & cows are transplanted into some patients (the other type of valve being metal).

Tissue valves: The size of pig and cow valves approximates the size of human valves. They are chemically treated to decrease the likelihood of tissue rejection. The porcine valves are more commonly used than the bovine.

Not really: Both offer the advantage of not requiring "blood thinning" on a long term basis.  Unlike a "mechanical" valve, cow and pig don't last longer than 7-12 years(with a few exceptions).  Otherwise, the outcomes in both valves are generally the same and for all intents and purposes, either one is a reasonable choice in a patient who does not desire blood thinning.
