1) scar massage
2) silicone sheeting (a kind of silicone tape you where over the scar)
3) steroid injections
4) laser treatment (helps remove coloring)
5) scar revision (removing the scar and starting over).


Consult with a plastic surgeon to find out which combination of these would best work for you.

Depends: It depends how deep the cut was. The skin is many layers thick. If only the very top layer (the epidermis) was cut it will usually heal with no scar. As deeper layers are cut then one has to perform a "layered" closure, and then it's important to take into account the underlying muscular anatomy.

Picture: A picture would help.  Stretch marks can have this appearance.  Also any areas that have had direct pressure or a period of time (weight lifting) can also cause this to happen.
