night or in poor light.  It can be caused by many different eye disorders.  Check with your eye doctor.

Can be treatable: Nyctalopia can be caused by a number of things.  A few are birth defects, vitamin a deficiency, medications, glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, severe near sightedness, retinitis pigmentosa, and refractive surgery (eg. Lasik).  There are other causes (some untreatable) but of the ones listed above the only untreatable causes are birth defects and retinitis pigmentosa.  Treatable not same as curable.

I think you : Need to ask your doctor.  But you have a genetic loss of a part of your visual system.  That is not easy to replace.

Poor night vision: Nyctalopia is due to poor abiity to perceive light in dim circumstances and occasionally delayed adaptation to dim illumination.  Most of these are due to inherited degenerations of the photoreceptors (such as retinitis pigmentosa) but global loss of photoreceptors such as advanced diabetic retinopathy can disturb perception in dim light.  Have you ophthalmologist evaluate this.

Very rarely: Severe chronic and active disease of the small bowel, or removal of a large portion of the small bowel, can lead to vitamin a deficiency in crohn's disease patients.

Sometimes: Sometimes people who have night blindness will also have a retinal problem that make them sensitive to sunlight.

Depends: There are varying degrees to the severity of night blindness. In the most mild form, you should be fine. However, in the more severe forms, you really should not be driving at night. You will not see well enough. See your eye doctor for testing to determine the severity of your night blindness.

No: Night blindness has several forms with red/green  the most common.  Typically, these persons learn to determine colors, as being various shades of grey.   So they interpret colors normally, except in the tests designed to detect color disorder (not really blindness)
