how long does chronic physical urticaria last on average? i started developing this 7 months ago. keeping getting attacks from triggers. wont stop.

Can linger: For sometime! Unfortunately, and at the same time can resolve spontaneously. It can be controlled though, see a dermatologist / allergist for evaluation and long term management, good luck

What type of hives?: There are several different forms of physical urticaria.  Difficult to evaluate your skin symptoms without seeing your skin.  What do you mean by "peak symptoms?"

Yes: Discoid lupus most often will not have a positive ana. See a dermatologist. A biopsy of the rash may provide the specific diagnosis.

No.: dehydration is not a standard cause of hives. Of course it certainly is easy enough to find out.

No: Xolair isn't commonly used for physical urticaria, waste of time and money, other drug and treatment options,  than antihistamines or xolair, can be used. kindly see a dermatologist / allergist with experience in treating chronic urticaria, good luck

Yes:  emotions can precipitate swearing, and sweat is the problem rather , not the heat, hope the treatment works, and hope that you have spontaneous recovery soon

Find & Control: Find the cause, when possible.  Control the symptoms.   There are many things which cause urticaria, and sometimes urticaria can be auto-immune (ie due to your own body's production of antibodies).  An allergist can help you identify the cause, when possible, either something as simple as your soap, or watch, or a food, or more complicated like a serious medical problem.

Hives: Hives is the common term for urticaria..Generally swelling, redness and itching are about it.

is it okay to take a shower when you have urticaria?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Urticaria or hives are superficial lesions that are red, itchy and can wax and wane.  There is no reason not to take a shower. In fact a tepid shower or bath may relieve the itching a little in addition to antihistamines.  For some who have cholinergic urticaria (heat induced) a hot shower could make it worse.
