Not really: There is no "one time pill" that you can take to do what you want to do. If you are on the birth control pill however, you can alter the way you finish the pack and start the next pack so that your period comes later than expected. You should discuss this with your physician for instructions should you want to delay your cycle because of vacation or other plans.

A progestin: Women in their mid 40s often ovulate and therefore menstruate less frequently. Taking a progestin for 5-10 days can cause a "period' in this setting.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods can occur and can be normal. Best to monitor your cycle over the next 2-3 months. If it continues to be irregular, seek medical attention. If concerned for pregnancy, take an over the counter test. Also, consider alternate birth control method such as spermicides, birth control pills, etc.

Period vs spotting.: If you had an actual period than you were not pregnant. However if it was only spotting, pregnancy is a possibility.

See a Gyn Dr: Irregular periods can indicate that something is going on with either your hormone levels or your Uterus. In either condition, a full exam by a Gynecological Dr would be wise. Blood tests of hormone levels, a pelvic exam and potentially a uterus ultrasound can determine if there is anything that requires treatment.

Possible: If one has regular cycles, menstrual bleeding occurs at time of expected menses, and is of normal flow.  "implantation bleeiding", if it does occur, will happen ~ a week prior to expected menses, and is usually very light, often only spotting.  Most women who conceive do not experience noticeable implantation bleeding.  If there are any doubts, do home pregnancy test at time of expected menses.

Ovulation =&gt; period: If you ovulated you will start a period, roughly 14 days afterward would be normal.

Testing too soon: If you took pregnancy tests before missing a period this was a waste of money. The test will not be valid until after a period is missed.

No: Yo period should be regulated by the pill. If you bleeding is not controlled by the pill then there may be some other problem - see your doctor if it recurs.
