Statin intolerance: Hi. If you can't tolerate any dose of a statin, that's a bummer, but it happens. Alternatives you could use include colesevelam and ezetimibe. New drugs will soon be out that you could also use (PCSK-9 inhibitors). But at least for now, get on colesevelam and ezetimibe to get that LDL controlled. Good luck.

Atrophy: Muscle wasting is a general term to describe the gradual loss in muscle mass and can have a umber of potential causes.  Atrophy is a similar term.

Not first symptom: In the example of carpal tunnel which is compression of the
median nerve in the carpal tunnel, the first symptoms are usually
sensory with numbness, tingling and paraesthesias.
As the compression you will start to get motor or muscle changes typically affecting the thenar muscles whereby you
may start to drop more small objects and develop atriophy.

Very Unnerving...: Most definitely, damage to a nerve supplying a muscles will cause the muscle to show varying degrees of degeneration. Several examples could include polio, muscular dystrophy, Lou Gehrig's disease and traumatic severing of the nerve.

Antithyroid drugs: Prefer antithyroid drugs rather than radioactive iodine in most of my pateints with hyperthyroidism.
Do Not us drugs, decongestants etc, too much caffeine which can make it worse.

Yes.: If the compression is severe enough to stop nerve conduction, atrophy of the affected muscles is likely.
