Yes: A kidney stone sits in the collecting system of the kidney. A bladder stone sits in the inside of the bladder. It is easy to tell the difference.

Not related: They are not really related metabolically or anatomically.  Gall bladder stones occur in part of the gastrointestinal tract and often contain high concentrations of bile and cholesterol.  Kidney stones occur in the urinary tract and often contain calcium and minerals excreted by the kidney.

No: There is one medicine for gallstones, but it is not really effective. None that I am aware of for kidney stones. If both present, discuss options with your primary care provider. Hope this helps!

i am 17 years old. i think i passed a kidney or bladder stone once in my urine (no pain). i have not noticed any other symptoms or pain and have had normal urine for 1-2 weeks. would you still advise seeing a doctor? is this typically serious?

No, you do not need to see any doctor at this time. There is no confirmed diagnosis. However, if it recurs, pick and keep that possible stone then visit the doctor by then.
Just remember this event for now.  In the future if doctor or nurse asks you about history of bladder or kidney stone you can tell your story by then.

Kidney and Gallstone: First, find out why you have these problems at age 33. Second, treatment will depend on that answer. Third, as regards the kidney stones, drink lots of water.

: Time to seek medical attention as it is not likely that your symptoms will reverse by themselves. The abdominal distention suggests ascites among others, most commonly due to liver disease. Starting with your primary care doc will be best.
