i have ibs and took a suppository as i am constipated. i have been passing clumps of mucus instead of stool after using one. is that normal? or should i be concerned?

Mucus discharge: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, &amp; even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies &amp; probably a sigmoidoscopy should be considered, but a more extensive evaluation may be warranted.

At the very least stool studies address if "pinkish" material is blood. In any case, you sound appropriately concerned. Get checked.

Inflammation: I recommend you fpllow up with your primary care doctor or gastroenterologist.  Your symptoms sound like inlammation of the colon and/or gallbladder dysfunction.

Stool: I would see a doctor about that and have your stool examined to make certain you do not have a parasite or some type of infection or underlying bowel disorder.
