? Hematoma: You may have accumulation of blood under the outer lining of the bone, subperiosteal hematoma. If the swelling does not subside in a couple of weeks you should see your doctor for further evaluation.

i have a soft lump on ankle another lump on the same leg but about 4" above ankle bone. both appeared within last month.no injury.hurts sometimes?

Lump: Could be something called erythema nodosum. You need to be checked out by a doctor.

i have a medium to small lump right above the left side of my ankle on my left leg. it is not painful at all. any ideas of what it is?

I have a medium: It could be a cyst which is filled with fluid and can happen after an injury or almost jello type tissue if you have had it for a while or a lipoma, that consists of fatty tissue , both cause no problems. However, if  the lump is getting bigger or is not going away, best to see a podiatrist or  a surgeon , get an ultrasound and/or an MRI  to find exactly what it is.

found small lump below inside of ankle. painful to walk and hurts during rest. doc ordered mri to rule out tpd or mass. could i end up in a cast?

Depends on results: Depends on the results of mri. With tibialis posterior dysfunction, immobilization may not be enough, surgery may be necessary and then casting.  Plus there will be a need to address the flat footed ness.  If a mass consistent with a ganglion,  have it drained as an in office service. Ask if they can remove it, as an in office service if not successful.  If other mass, have removed.

Could be benign: The discription appears consistent with a cyst or lipoma. Have it examined.

Lump on leg: Without an exam and a good history the guesses would be an abscess, insect bite, contusion/bruise, Boil, carbuncle, infected cyst, sebaceous cyst, folliculitis, and several other possible things.  If it does not go away, get an eval of it.

May be pump bump: You could have pressure bumps on the heel which may come from high heel shoes. Pl see attached for the condition's description. You should get checked by your PCP, who can get X Ray to confirm diagnosis or refer you to an orthopedic doctor.

Sprain or Overuse: Men in their late 20's with tugging and aching areas of lower legs may be overdoing it.  If you think you are overusing a joint, cut back on your exercise routine and ice the area until it's on the mend.

A few things: It sounds like it could be a little bursa, ganglionic cyst, lipoma or if it is hard, a bone spur or prominence of bones at the top of the foot.  Keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger, painful or shows sign of shoe irritation consider seeing a podiatrist.
