Varies: I've had patients that said it seemed to last anywhere from 3 to 8 hours.  There are time release versions as well as vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) which gets metabolized to amphetamine.  Work with your prescriber to find the one or combo that works best for your needs.

TIA-stroke-seizure: Amphetamines drive up your blood pressure and they can cause strokes and brain hemorrhage. This could have been a transient ischemic attack, a small stroke, a small brain hemorrhage, or a seizure. See a neurologist, get a ct scan of the head and stop using.
