Could be: Neither is normal. Black stools can be due to pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) use or from blood arising from a source in your stomach. Green urine could be the result of some food coloring agents or medications/vitamins you are taking. Either way they should be investigated for underlying causes.

Without further details, lab results, and past medical history, it is hard to pinpoint the culprit, but black stools point to bleeding in either the upper GI tract (stomach, small intestine) or proximal colon. Seek another gastroenterologist.

Black stools: After drinking is an ominous sign for a gastric ulcer or gastritis, aggravated by the alcohol, leading to bleeding. The blood turns black when exposed to acid in the stomach and hence makes the stools black. Stop drinking! and go see a gastroenterologist to make the diagnosis and get you on a treatment plan before you do some serious damage.

Call GI asap: Assuming you had a colonoscopy at age 35 for some reason other than screening, and now with probable BLOOD causing the black stools, I would call the GI Dr. and get an evaluation ASAP.

See a doctor: You should see a physician as soon as possible. Black stool, especially if you are taking a lot of ibuprofen, can represent a bleed in GI track, normally in your stomach. While the pain does not seem to fit that classically, you may have a bleed somewhere else. Any peptobismol use?-also causes black stool. Best recommendation without more info is to see a doctor for physical exam and workup.

Sorbifer: Sorbifer, an iron preparation combined with vitamin C, can cause black stools and abdominal discomfort or gastrointestinal irritation. To be sure, your physician can check a stool specimen obtained by a rectal examination and test it for occult blood. A negative test would rule out upper gi bleeding as a cause of the tarry stools. Taking sorbifer with food should reduce gi irritation or?change Rx
