Tmj: You likely have tmj.  A way to tell is to open and close the jaw with a finger placed in the TMJ socket which is roughly the pocket created when one opens the mouth and places a finger directly in front of the ear canal right at the level of the sideburns.  Softer foods, warm compresses and Motrin should help. Avoid gum chewing. Temporal arthritis is another possibility.

SUNCT: Rare Short-lasting Unilateral Neuralgiform headache attacks with Conjunctival injection and Tearing. It is  is a primary headache predominant in males and respond to indomethacin. See your PCP for evaluation if needed.

Probably not serious: Probably not a serious problem but it depends on how long you have been having these transient pains behind your left eye/ear. If the pains have been present for more than one month and if they are present most of the day then you should see you physician and consider an MRI of the head. If the pain is fleeting and not present long it is unlikely to be a brain tumor or aneurysm. Relax.
