how can a pain management center be  different from just seeing a regular dr?

Pain centers: They are equipped with the equipment for procedures to treat pain. The physician is specialized in identifying the cause of pain and in its treatment using medicines and procedures, physical therapy, etc. The doc will tell you which method or association is the best. He will request investigations such as nerve conduction studies, MRI and ct scans as necessary.

Hmmm: Commenting that you are young is not an issue.  A doctor writing in his office that that you are pretty is very unusual.  There is no reason to indicate such a thing.  I would suggest finding another doctor.

Sure you can: ER is for emergency visit. If you have an emergency situation, you are violating absolutely nothing.
Take a good care. Get a copy of the ER report and share it with your pain arrangement doc.

Your functional status and goals will be assessed.  Chronic pain is usually not fully eliminated, but any reduction can improve your life.
