Positional and mechanical influences on the diaphragm.: If the pain is fleeting,you likely have pressure from your abdomen, on the diaphragm. You can decrease that pressure by eliminating carbonated drinks, excessive caffeine use, and increased water/fibrous foods, like raw fruits and vegetables. Particularly a dark green salad at night time Will help move stomach and intestinal contents while you're sleeping.Dinner should always be your lightest meal!

i'm a fit slim 41yo with burning pain just under angle of left rib cage for past year. feels like something stuck under with fluttering into my chest at times. burning feeling worsens if i drink coffee/hot drinks but not always. eases with exercise?

: According to this description of symptoms I would consider it to be a type of esophageal motility disorder with some degree of esophageal inflammation. You could try avoiding caffeine, alcohol,spicy&amp;oily foods,aspirin and anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen and take famotidine or omeprazole for a week or two only. Consult a gastroenterologist if not improved.

Could be ulcer: This could be from an ulcer ot other problem in the gastrointestinal system.  The fact that it is constant is a concern. Please see a doctor soon for a physical exam and some blood tests. You may also need an ultrasound or other testing. You could try some over the counter prilosec to see if that gives you some relief but I really think you need to see a doctor soon.

Abdominal pain: Go to urgent care if can not talk to your doctor. Peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, diverticullitis , hiatal hernia and some other conditions may need to me ruled out.

got lower back and lower tummy pains, on n off for days now. and also got mild pains just under my left rib cage. what could it be? i'm worried

May resolve on own..: If the lower abdominal and back pains are too severe, they could be excess gas in the colon causing stretching of the muscles of the gut. Not uncommonly, a gas pocket gets caught in the upper right or left part of the gut and causes pain in the diaphragm just under the rib cage.  Try some antacids and anti-gas pills, and perhaps it will resolve in couple days. If not, or becomes severe, see doc.

2- muscular-skeletal system.
