Exam: Assuming you have no nodes swollen in the region, it might be musculoskeletal.  The muscle of concern is the seratus anterior, which would elicit pain if you were to push forcefully on something.  If the pain is elicited by reaching to the front and out toward the side this would implicate the subscapularis.  An osteopath can figure this out and tell you how to heal the problem.

See your doctor: Pain in the armpit is most commonly caused by a swollen and inflammed lymph node.  It is best first evaluated by your family physician.  It is most commonly caused by your bodies reaction to a simple infection, but can be something more concerning.

Maybe: If this is new it is not normal, but not necessarily anything bad. Swollen lymph nodes can give this appearance and need to be watched or evaluated.   A fatty tumor could also do this and is benign.  There are other things that could be there, but likelihood is lower.   If this is not decreasing in size see your doc.
