With ovarian aging: All women lose eggs as they age resulting in ovarian aging.  So pcos can experience aging with eventual symptoms of premenopause (vaginal atrophy, hot flashes, lighter menses).

if i have vaginal atrophy from menopause, but i do not want to use any estrogen creams, is there a more natural way to cure it? my vagina burns inside and looks a bit red, i do not like estrogen in any form. need advice on what to do to relieve it?

: Why no vaginal estrogen? It's very effective and avoids any possibility of side effects as might occur with oral estrogen treatment. Nothing else is likely to be as helpful -- but have a discussion with your gynecologist. Good luck.

Atrophy= no estrogen: Hello,

We usually do not associate vaginal atrophy with oral contraceptives even with prolonged usage.  OCPs contain estrogen.    When I see vaginal atrophy it is usually associated with  conditions where there is VERY little or no estrogen for prolonged periods of time, such as, menopausal women, women with no ovaries or women taking medications that suppress  ovarian production of Estrogen.

is atrophic vaginitis discharge usually white? can it come and go or is it continuous? will a vag moist get rid of it or do you have to use estrogen?

Usually no discharge: Vaginal atrophy is usually associated with dryness and inflammation rather than discharge.
Moisturizer is a good start, vaginal and systemic estrogen will help, and there is new laser therapy for atrophic vaginitis as well

It depends: It depends on whether your breast cancer was estrogen receptor positive or negative. If positive, there is controversy about estrogen cream use even though very little of it is absorbed by the vaginal epithelium into the generalized blood stream.

Vaginal Atrophy: Vaginal atrophy is thining of the vaginal tissue due to a decrease in estrogen levels seen mostly in postmenopausal women.  There is also decreased moisture and discharge and decreased elasticity of the vaginal tissue.  Sometimes it can cause pain with intercourse and urinary incontinence.

Discomfort, pain,: Bleeding.  Depending on the severity of vaginal atrophy the person may experience discomfort, pain and bleeding. There is risk of trauma to the vagina due to lack of lubrication, and increased risk of infections.

Vaginal atrophy: is usually dry! If you have a discharge ..get it checked  out by your GYN  BTW NO ONE should have to "suffer" from this condition!!1 There is effective treatment!

It can but: Atrophic vaginitis can cause vaginal discharge but other causes are more likely. I would schedule a visit for testing for yeast and bacterial vaginosis. If those are present they can be treated. Vaginal estrogen is very effective at preventing atrophic vaginitis.

Yes - a lot!: Yes, a significant number of women will get symptoms of vaginal atrophy, usually after menopause. However, breast feeding women and some premenopausal women can still have symptoms of atrophy like vaginal or vulvar itching or burning, discharge or discomfort with intercourse.
