This is unlike ‘ordinary’ osteoporosis which is only painful when broken bones have occurred. Pain resolves eventually but sometimes reoccurs in another part of the body. Referral to a pain clinic may be necessary to help with the difficult pain.

Osteoporosis: Currently it is better to think of osteoporosis as a condition that can be managed or treated rather than cured.  This is usually performed by dietary modifications, ingestion of supplemental calcium, vitamin d and a class of agents notice the bisphosphonates. These are usually delivered via oral or intramuscular injection on a weekly or monthly or even yearly basis.

Plenty of options: Actually vitamin d is more important than calcium.  If you have osteopenia, take 500mg of calcium and 2000u of vit d and get a vit d level checked.  If your vit d is low, you will continue to lose bone.  Other meds that treat osteopenia include bisphosphonates and evista.

i am not able to swallow large pills. what are my options if i need treatment for osteoporosis?

Liquid &amp; IV med: Liquid Fosamax is available as an option. Other options include annual IV injection of zoledronic acid (Reclast). IV therapy may require insurance approval for coverage. Besides medication for osteoporosis, be sure to have adequate vitamin D level and intake along with weight bearing exercises to strengthen your bones.

Fasciitis osteoporos: Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of a tendon like structure in the foot and happens to occur 30 percent of individuals in there lifetime and not related to osteoporosis your osteoporosis is fairly severe and though can have no underlying cause but those need to be ruled out adequate calcium and vitamin d is a must therapy directed by specialist needs to be decided and followed good outcome.

Calcium, vit D.: If you are menstruating normally a calcium intake of 1000 mg daily from food and/or  supplements with 1-2000 units vitamin d3 daily should help prevent bone loss.  A measurement of vitamin d in the blood would assure you are taking the correct amount.
