how do you avoid a large service who sends the on-call doc to your birth? i'd like my doc to attend.

My doc at Delivery: All doctors have to have some sort of call group--no one can be ready 100% of the time. If having your doctor be at delivery is important, induction can be one way to arrange this. Also, small groups or solo docs often cover their own call during the week, giving you a better chance of seeing them at your delivery. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor what arrangement can be made.

11 mth old swollen nodes on back of head at neck for 2 weeks.  went down 1 day & came back.no fever or other symptoms. bug bites on head. call doc?

Reactive: These nodes are reacting to the bug bite on the scalp. Ibuprofen could help with swelling. If the nodes continue to swell or get worse a course of antibiotics could be helpful. So i would see the doc in 1-2 weeks if not better.

Question 3

11 month old has watery eye & one-sided runny nose, on the right side. thought it was cold, but why would it only be on one side?  call doc? no fever.

Rhinitis: Asymmetric runny nose may be simply due to allergy or virus with swelling more on one side.  Gentle saline and suction may help.  However, persistent symptoms only on one side should be evaluated for foreign body, congenital cysts or tumors and choanal atresia.  See an otolaryngologist with any persistent symptoms.

i had cf scan on wed and doc called on thursday for me to come see him next thursday to discuss results.....he cancelled cystocopy .....is this good?

Can't tell: Please call your doctor to let her know that you are anxious about the change in plans.  If it were an urgent matter, you would have been called in immediately.

son 6 has had a fevet since thursday evening of 103-104.2 on antibiotics since friday night not getting any better any advice on when yo call doc agai?

Now: That is a very high fever.  I would not expect that high a fever after several days on antibiotics.    Your child should be reevaluated right away in my opinion.    The ER would be reasonable.

HealthWealthorDealth: Hmmm, what type of pain?Like, sometimes it's painful to accomplish something worthwhile, like challenging yourself physically or mentally--or when you can't see your lover for a week,--or you're on a diet. Now, if you 'like' to cut yourself or get spanked, or get into crazy relationships that rip your life to shreds, then that's called some variation of masochism and is for the most part unhealthy

Make a follow up: Unfortunately doctors don't get paid to make telephone calls like a lawyer or other professional.  Your best way to get answers is to see them in person.

help docs? why is tuberculosis called as romantic disease?

Long story: In the early 1800's, the beginning of the romantic era (focus on young people, angst, emotions, glamorizing things), there was also a lot of TB, which causes people in the prime of health to languish and fade away.  Jack Keats (real life) and Camille (fiction) died "romantic" deaths. When cholera rather than TB became the great killer, disease was suddenly no longer romantic.

i'm going to call my doc again tomorrow. but, in the mean time, can i use vagisil?

For yeast?: If you think that you are having a yeast infection then using one of the many over the counter Yeast creams is very reasonable
