Good care everywhere: Obstetric care in the USA is very good almost anywhere you go.  You need to decide what part of the country will be convenient for you.  Do you have friends or family who can support you?  Choose a hospital nearby that has a high volume of deliveries.   If you have medical problems or a poor obstetric history, consider a university hospital as you will have access to many specialists there.

Bring prenatal chart: Patients occasionally present to the emergency room while traveling. Head to the nearest emergency room if needed -- preferably one with a labor and delivery. Once you arrive the nursing staff will contact the on call physician for the hospital. One helpful thing you can do is have a copy of your prenatal chart available with you. This helps the staff take care of you in these circumstances.

Physical exam: Your doctor will do a speculum exam and look for a pool of amnionic fluid in the vagina, a nitrazine test that checks the ph of the fluid and will put some of the fluid on a slide and look under the microscope for a ferning like pattern that the fluid will make. In certain circumstances that are very rare, your doctor could do an amniocentesis and place dye in the fluid around the baby.

Amniocentesis Safety: Rate of loss from amniocentesis is often quoted anywhere between 1/300 to 1/500 and often it has to do with the reason why the amniocentesis is done...If there's suspicion for infection or a genetic problem...The fetus may already be predisposed to stillbirth which could be wrongfully blamed on the amniocentesis. More likely to get fluid leakage with amniocentesis (1%) than fetal loss.

Unfortunately yes: Doctors are obliged to document all pertinent medical history in your chart, because it's relevant. Unfortunately Insurance companies have the right to have access to your chart whenever they want. So Doctors do not have choice, unless you sign a letter with your Doctors office telling not to give any information to your Insurance and you are legally responsible for the consequences .

Pharmacists: I would hope that your pharmacist can assist you with this common problem. There has to be physicians on call that can approve an emergency refill or medication clarification.

Please go to your: Doctor.  I don't want to alarm you but this may be a medical emergency, could be brain, could be inner ear.  Hopefully less than that but the only way to get a diagnosis is to be seen by a doctor.  Peace and good health.
