Rx: The oral form of Nystatin is available by prescription only in the United States.  Your doctor will probably prescribe the liquid form, or in 'trouches', which are usually swished and spit or swallowed in the mouth four times daily.

It is a purple liquid which will permanently stain clothing, so careful handling is recommended! Maybe gentian violet: 1% gentian violet is a dye that kills bacteria and fungi, sometimes it works as treatment for thrush. It is available without a prescription. Gentian violet is only for adults. Ask your pharmacist for recommendations. Good luck, but if it is too severe - see a doctor.

May need oral meds: Sounds like a severe diaper rash. A couple of things to consider: not all diaper rashes are yeast, some are irritant or allergic, or even other infections. These would need to be treated differently. But even if it is yeast, some infections need oral fluconazole, a short course to improve. Ask your doctor, dermatologist, or an infectious disease specialist regarding diagnosis and treatment.

what can i use for vag yeast infection itch? i have severe sensitivity to all otc creams. ive seen a dr and take my 2nd dose of diflucan tomorrow. any suggestion for itch relief? also, what other options available if diflucan doesnt work? nystatin?

Fungal diaper rash: It is important to be certain that you are dealing with yeast infection, there are other anti fungal topical agents that can be used. I can take a look at the uploaded picture in the consult room and advise further. In the meantime maintain diaper care and strict hand washing to prevent a transfer of the infection to the mouth.

Yes you can, but: use as directed, and twice a day for at least 10 - 14 days, keep the area clean and dry, treat oral candidiasis if present. If that doesn't work you need to see the pediatrician / dermatologist for a second look, best wishes
