Possibly: That could certainly do it - it's called compression neuropathy. Your weight can cause temporary dysfunction in the peripheral sensory nerves on the side on which you are lying. If that's the case, it should resolve within several minutes of moving around. Heavily sedated people (like from alcohol, drugs, or medicines) who don't move in their sleep can have longer lasting symptoms.

i have had a bad throbbing stabbing pain in the back of my head, which came along with aching tension and numbness on one side of face still happening?

Neurologist: I recommend an examination by a neurologist in view of the associated facial numbness. Simple occipital neuralgia, which isn't serious, wouldn't have associated facial numbness.

Relax: At 20 years old you are starting to notice bodily functions you have  ignored in the past. Also you have probably forgotten or not experienced true severe pain or illness. A good rule of thumb : If you have to wonder if something hurts or not then it doesn&#x27;t hurt. Likewise if a sensation or self examination isn&#x27;t unpleasant and there&#x27;s nothing new (like a lump or skin lesion) then you&#x27;re ok!

what are symptoms of tmj? does one side of your face feel numb at times? i have been feeling an odd sensation in one side of face lately.

Not usually numbness: Tmj problems usually manifest as pain; pain on chewing, pain on opening and closing the mouth, painful clicks or pops in the jaw joint, or headaches. I can't identify your odd sensation, but numbness is not usually a TMJ symptom. Numbness can be caused by a variety of things, including vascular problems, diabetes, and even cancer. You may want to have a doctor check it out.

i had major surgery saturday had front tooth's taking out one side of face is really still numb n can't breath normal on my left side?

Call your surgeon: If you are having problems breathing, this is an emergency. You need immediate medical attention.  If your dentist is not available and you do not have an oral surgeon close by, you should go to your local Urgent Care or emergency room for evaluation and treatment..

It is an emergency: Numbness in face, lips and head can occur with the damage or dysfunction of the branches of the cranial nerve supplying the innervation to these regions.  Your doctor should identify and treat the underlying cause  of your numbness or tingling. Treatment of the underlying condition may reverse the symptoms.

Anxiety: Anxiety and panic disorders can cause numbness in the face. A normal MRI of the brain excludes a variety causes including a tumor, sinusitis, multiple sclerosis, or other intracranial structural lesion. However, should the symptoms worsen then a neurologist should evaluate you. An MRI of the cervical spine and a lumbar puncture may be included in further studies to determine the cause.

Depends: Numbness after an anesthetic injection is temporary while numbness which has been present for about a year may be permanent.  Consult a neurologist or orofacial pain dentist.
