my wife is in the 4th month of pregnancy. she has some pains on her right leg and her right arm sometimes is little numb. is it normal?

A little swelling: is not unexpected.  However, a painful swelling is another matter as sometimes phlebitis develops because of the high estrogen of a normal pregnancy.  See the doctor

Family practice : Probably a pinched nerve and sensation will take awhile to return to normal.

i have a toddler of 18 months, could this be side effects after the pregnancy & cause i'm carrying him?

Posture/carrying: If you are carrying the baby on your side/hip it can easily result in changes in how your hips react. At 18 months it would be good to let them walk more or get a stroller.

numb bottom left side of left foot.pinky toe back hurts to be on it to long. also 24 weeks pregnant, could this be common in pregnancy.

Podiatrist: Pregnant women often complain of feet pain. Consider changing shoes. Tennis shoes or shoes with good arch support are often more comfortable. A podiatrist can evaluate your feet for you to make sure nothing else is going on.

Get seen!: If you are having numbness or weakness in your face during pregnancy, it might be the earliest sign of something called "bell's palsy".  You need to talk with your ob/gyn and get checked out!

Belly button: the skin can be stretched with the advancing pregnancy which can also stretch nerves.  This is temporary.  And yes, it is normal.

Vascular problem: Normally numbness during or following pregnancy is related to water retention and pressure building within the carpal tunnel causing carpal tunnel syndrome.  However, sometime a vascular problem know as raynauds disease, which is a vasospasm triggered by cold temperatures can cause blanching of a digit associated with numbness and pain.  A good exam and an EMG study will help provide an answer.

Carpal tunnel: Fluid changes during pregnancy can produce nerve compression at the wrist c/w cts, which is benign and usually is gone a few days after l & d.  Persistent numbness could be associated with nerve pinching at the elbow, disc problems in the neck, thoracic outlet syndrome.  But rarely left arm problems can be heart associated (quite unusual at your age.).

i am 5 weeks pp and experiencing numbness of vaginal buttock area. not bad but its tbere .i had it during pregnancy and had an mri of my spine done and it was thankfully clear. could it just be from giving birth? i also had stitches after the birth?

: Typically, this is transient and should gradually depart over next several weeks.  Sometimes, doctors will recommend supplementing a B-50 complex tab daily, but there is only anecdotal support for this approach.  Give it some time and if the numbness persists beyond the next month, contact your doctor.

i had a baby 7 weeks ago. during pregnancy i experience numbness in my vaginal and around the anal area. i had an mri at 30 weeks to check for cauda equina. it came back clear. im experience same again. weak legs. could it just be from pregnancy?

: Depending on the size of your baby at birth, and the method of delivery (forceps, vacuum suction, etc.) sciatic and other nerves can be injured, but usually will regenerate function within months of delivery. Permanent injury, however, of peripheral nerves may cause the numbness you have noted.
