Sex determination: by heart rates is not  reliable.  By this stage, your OB should be able to accurately determine the gender of your baby with an ultrasound.  Congratulations!

Fetal heart rate: Fetal heart rate is very variable. Call your obgyn and schedule an appointment for 3 months follow-up.

I suggest "yes": Unless your family doctor has an active obstetrical practice - delivers babies and sees patents for prenatal care - you need to start seeing an OBGyn or provider who doe these things. In some communities family docs do obstetrics, but unless yours is one of them, you now need an OB doctor, not just a "doctor." Good wishes.

Congratulations: Glad to hear that you have had an ultrasound and are seeing a doctor. Vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy is very common although worrisome, I know. But, the ultrasound was reassuring. The pregnancy is ok!

Yes: A woman's cardiac output may increase by nearly 50% during the first trimester.  A portion of this increase is attributable to an increase of resting heart rate.  One might see an increase of 10 or 15 beats per minute.

Age & activity relat: There  is a range of accepted normal heart rate for infants that varies with sleep/wake/activities & deciding when they are transitioning from one state to the next is sometimes hard.
0-3m awake 85-205, asleep 80-160; 3m-2yr awake 100-190 & asleep 60-140.

Normal HR: Normal heart rate at around 8 weeks. A normal HR at 8 weeks is a good sign but is not a good predictor of long term issues/survival. Take good care of yourself and work with your OB/GYN closely over the coming months and ask lots of questions. A new baby is an both an exciting and scary time. Good luck.

Yes: It is not unusual for the baby's heart rate to be slower when it first starts (around 6 and 1/2 weeks generally).  They will likely be much faster, around 160-170 BPM the next time you hear/see them.
