Varies: Silent reflux is a condition in which the infant has gastresophageal reflux with symptoms such as fussiness, coughing or wheezing without obvious reflux signs such as spitting. Usually we use medications like Zantac (ranitidine) or proton pump inhibitors like Prevacid in infants if we need to treat reflux with medication.

No known benefit: Antihistamines have a drying effect on any mucous production and will thicken secretions. For many years they have been used to "dress up" kids & make them look less sickly (draining nose, etc.)they have no known benefit to the child during a cold & may thicken the mucous to the point it is harder to cough out.

If the baby is less than 1 month old and has a fever, you need to go to an emergency department.

Eczema: Avoid perfume soaps and lotions on his skin. Use a fragrance and perfume free lotion daily

IVF: There is no medication to alter the genotype. The only way to avoid having a baby with hemoglobin ss would be in vitro fertilization with preimplantation dna testing.  Costly process.

Prenatal vitamins: Prenatal vitamins are typically full of b vitamins especially folate (folic acid) which if taken prior to getting pregnant lowers risk of spinal tube defects. Some studies suggest benefit to fish (oil) but that data is still early. Otherwise, best to check w/your family doc or OB for their specific recommendations given where you live & your specific medical, surgical & obstetric history.

Flu meds: pregnant ?: Most flu vaccines have inactive virus, so it is unlikely your pregnancy will be affected.  Check with your OB physician about the nature of the type of "flu medications" you received, and he/she can advise you of any risks entailed.

Not a  problem: I have looked at the ingredients of these meds &amp; do not find them to be worrisome at that stage of pregnancy. Please clear any future self medication use with your doctor. The relative risk of some meds depends on the stage of pregnancy.

Can you clarify?: This is very weak stuff and if you're still having acne, move to something stronger. Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and/or retinoic acid are your best friends. If they don't clear you in a few weeks, or if you have severe acne or it's on your trunk, your physician can add something stronger that will work. Best wishes.
