Hormonal imbalance: If you had sex since your last period, you may wish to do a pregnancy test, Use first morning urine and follow the instructions carefully.
Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

Heartburn: Could be heartburn or sensitivity to something you're eating. Try OTC generic Zantac/Pepcid or Prilosec.

Pregnancy tests are available at any pharmacy and in minutes you will have your answer. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.

Irregular ovulation: It sounds like you are not ovulating regularly. Birth control pills will help regulate your cycle. If you have been gaining weight, you may need to be evaluated for Polycystic ovary syndrome. Talk to your MD.

Find with your doctor the source of the nausea and treat the cause not a symptom.

Doctor can evaluate: The more common causes of lower back pain include:  back muscle strain, back ligament sprain, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, urine infection, kidney infection, kidney stone, tumor in the spine, tumor in the kidney or other places, fractured vertebra, fibromyalgia, other bacterial infection, etc...  So, with such a long list of possibilities, a doctor needs to evaluate.

Need more info: Bowel or pelvic (i.e., ovarian) disorders can cause the type of pain you describe. This sounds urgent, particularly if you are experiencing nausea. You need to seek emergency attention - run, don't walk and don't wait.

Lumbar strain: Most acute low back pain is muscular not related to disk herniations.   This should subside in 1-2 weeks. If it does not or is associated with pain or numbness into you legs you should see an md right away.

Possible but----: I suppose it's possible to have the nausea you're describing on the basis of medications you're taking for the pain or perhaps just a SEVERE worsening of the pain itself for some reason. However, you also need to look at other causes since you've had the back pain for 2 years I wouldn't expect nausea as you describe to just "pop up"...you should see a doctor or get a consultation here on HealthTap
