Gallbladder removal: Post cholecystectomy syndrome is a rare, but real entity. It may be manifested by symptoms similar to those prior to gallbladder removal.  First, an evaluation by the surgeon and repeat tests including liver function tests, ultrasound, and ct scan. Any abnormality should be explored.  An evaluation by the gastroenterologist may then be necessary as well as cycling through different nausea meds.

Not usually: Unless you have a stricture of the pancreatic duct it would be unusual for the biliary system to cause a problem. Would be concerned about irritable bowel syndrome. Have a set of liver enzymes with amylase taken and see what they find. A GI specialist would be the person to see.

i got my gallbladder removed in october 2011. i have burpsthat smell like bile. i have nausea and vomiting that also smells like bile. i get horrible stomach pains too. whatshould i do?

It : It sounds like you are dealing with a severe case of acid reflux. This could be due to a stomach ulcer, gastritis, hiatal hernia etc. The most important thing here is for you to see your doctor right away. You will likely need to be referred to a gastroenterologist (gi doctor) for a special test called an endoscopy. This is where a camera will be used to visualize your upper GI tract (this includes your stomach). In the meantime try taking an over the counter medication like Prilosec or ranitidine.

Could be other: Among the causes for those symptoms are gallbladder disease (not enough info given to say you have that) as well as gut/stomach issues including ulcers, celiac disease, other. Get checked for other things.

Hepatologist: Given her history she needs to consult with surgeon and hepatic doctor. Multiple possibilities from infection to further complications from surgery to new problem. Be seen as evaluation and treatment may be critical. Do not delay

Gastritis/PUD: You may have gastritis, gastric ulcer, GERD or PUD. The other possibilities are biliary colic (inflammation or stones in common bile duct) &amp; pancreatic abnormalities. Tips: try less spicy food, small meals multiple times a day,avoid nicotine, chocolate. Also try OTC anti-acids  such as tums, (calcium carbonate) Maalox, peptide or other H2 blocker; &amp; Omeprazole or other PPIs. No improvement see your PCP for evaluation

When do you get pain? What type? How long does it last? Anything make it better? Anything make it worse? Does food affect the pain? Have you had any surgery ? How long has it been there? Have you tried any medications? Did they work? Did you injure yourself? Pulled muscle etc? Has anyone done any studies?  See an MD for eval

Several things: Symptoms and concerns like these mandate a thorough evaluation by your doctor.  Only after such an evaluation, which may include labs and radiographic examinations, can he/she let you know what's going on and how best to help you.
