This is called exercise -induced asthma and can often be prevented by using a bronchodilator before hand.  Many elite athletes may also have similar symptoms after prolonged and strenuous exertion but have no breathing problem otherwise. In the latter it is called exercise-induced bronchospasm.

However you will need to weigh the risk'/benefit ratio of getting another drug to control your hypertension.   A more cardioselective beta blocker  can usually be tolerated by those with asthma reducing the 1 sec airflow rate by about 8% but paradoxically making the airway more responsible to bronchodilator.
