May be: May be watching is legal  , to make sure you are not switching urine, you can ask same sex chaperon . In air port  , the drug mules  who             ( swallowing   illegal drugs in sealed pellets ) carry are watched in  special visible  glass toilets during defecation , which is legal.

4 weeks post op tkr. still have 4/10 pain at night that keeps me awake. i hesitate to take more narcotics but i really need to sleep. any ideas?

See below:: You can still take the narcotics, if your orthopod advises, but continue to gradually wean yourself off them over a 2-3 weeks time. Tramadol is a good alternative, and some sleeping med for a 8-10 days might help. Doing regular exercises and pt will help to strengthen your muscles and decrease the pain as the knee gets stronger.
Continue using a walker is helpful also, for maybe another 3-4 weeks.

Positive 12 steps: You can start a neutral program - positive 12 step program. You can find either local library or town/ church to give you space. Try to have weekly meeting and be consistent. Learn more at http://positive12steps.Org.

Honesty.: Narcotics have gotten plenty of attention recently, with the #1 cause of overdose deaths now being prescription drugs. If you are in pain for any reason, an open and honest talk with your doctor about all pain options (not just narcotics) is the first step towards an improved quality of life. Things to avoid: 1) don't "doctor shop" for multiple prescriptions, and 2) don't insist on narcotics.
