Not normal: That is not necessarily normal.  It sounds like you had a cycle where you did not ovulate or something is affecting your hormonal levels.  If the pregnancy tests are negative it is very unlikely that you are pregnant.  If you still don't have a period at the end of 1 month, see your GYN

As : As doctors, the first thing we do when we hear that a fertile woman is having a missed period or abnormal spotting, we check a pregnancy test. You can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period. Did you wait long enough for your pregnancy tests to have been accurate?

If so, there are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to miss a period such as: stress, diet, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. If you continue to have an irregular cycle, you should give your doctor or your ob/gyne a call. Good luck!

Low risk - pregnancy: At age 51 the chances of being pregnant are quite low (but you can still take a pregnancy test to find out).  If your periods have been regular up until now - you might be perimenopausal.  For on-going irregularity - d/w your gynecologist. Take care.

Too earlymenopause: Just do a urine pregnancy test.  My guess is that you are a bit young for menopause.  Stress can also cause missed periods.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &amp;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Prego or not: This is not that uncommon. Pregnancy comes to mind but a pregnancy test should be positive if done correctly when a period is missed. It could be too early &amp; a repeat using the first morning urine can be more accurate. But some women occasionally skip cycles. It can go beyond 60 days without pregnancy and at that point a gynecologist might offer treatment to trigger one.

Hpt: Reasons for missed/late periods: low body weight, obesity, marked weight ^ or v, over-exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, ^ stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems (i.e. PCOS). #1 reason is pregnancy.

Amenorrhea: First, you need a pregnancy test.  That is if you were sexual during ovulation in this cycle.  All other answers will be based upon whether you are pregnant or not.

Menses: Reasons for irregularity include weight gain or loss,  alcohol use, eating disorders, marked emotional stress, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, cervical polyps, polycystic ovarian syndrome, excessive exercise &amp; pregnancy. If you have 3 abnormal menstrual cycles in a row - I would seek gynecological evaluation.
