Skin irritation: From your description it appears that your skin is irritated. Remove everything that is covering your knees, and wait for skin to cool off.  If your symptoms worsen then seek medical attention right away.

That sounds like a: Possible infection. If one of your legs has become hot, red & swollen you need to have this evaluated.  You could have cellulitis.

Typical: When you retain fluid in the legs, the skin flushes and looks pink. A lot of times this is mistaken for cellulitis, a skin infection. The bigger issue though is why are your legs swelling? It's not normal in hypertension unless something else is going on. So see a doctor to find the cause.

A number of things: Increased arterial flow, venous congestion, and possible early post thrombotic syndrome.  If you aren't wearing graduated compression stockings (30-40 mm hg, knee high), you should be.  Studies have shown that you need to wear them for two years after your clot.

Infection: This could be scarring from a hair follicle infection with staph. It is best to be treated initially with course of antibiotics. Preventive measures include a antibacterial soap, vitamin c, and perhaps bovine colostrum.

: The symptoms as stated above suggests one might have problem with the Circulatory System in the lower extremities. Besides a good evaluation by the PCP, a Vascular Consult might also have to be seen and more specific questions can then be answered. There are good solutions for most of the potential problems that might be detected.
